You take time out for everyone but what about yourself? In this article, we show you how to pamper yourself.

If you are like me, pampering myself does not come easy. But, as I like to remind myself – you know that old saying is true:

If mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.

So, it’s time for some self-pampering and we’ve got loads of way to pamper yourself that don’t necessarily cost an arm and a leg. A pampering session isn’t about the money but about taking the time to take care of yourself.

Although we are not one to turn down a good spa trip, because spa pampering is THE BEST, we also have ideas for how you can pamper yourself at home.

By the way, you know there is Valentines Day, birthdays, etc coming up right? Why not suggest some pamper day ideas to your partner and/or your family? You know you’ll love it and it will be what you want. Win/win.

On that thought, why not treat your BFF to some pampering time. You can, of course, join her because you are selfless like that.  And, maybe you first need to road test those pampering ideas for her also. You wouldn’t want to make her a guinea pig for these pamper day ideas, do you?

10+ Self Pampering Ideas on the Cheap

Turn your bathroom into a spa room with some of these ideas. Take a warm bath with a glass of wine and a book and/or movie.

Turn a room (even if it is the shed outside!) into your own hideaway. A comfy chair, something to drink and a good book and you’re all set.

Don’t have any extra space? Hole yourself up in a room, lock the door and listen to some music or a podcast.

Try out some guided meditation even if it is only for 15 minutes. We are big fans of the Calm App which helps you in a guided meditation.

Go for a walk in nature. Take your dog with you for company.

A good walk is one of the many simple ways to pamper yourself.

 

Take a nap in the afternoon. See? The world didn’t end without you and you will wake up refreshed. Having problems getting to sleep? Check out these 8 tips for getting great sleep.

Speaking of naps, savor the joy of freshly laundered (and ironed?) sheets. Ideally still warm. You’ll feel like you are staying in a hotel. And, of course, pajamas optional if you want to be truly sybaritic.

Potter around the garden. Or if you don’t have outside space, create an indoor garden. Taking care of plants is soothing and will help you connect with nature.

10+ Pamper Yourself Ideas That Cost Money

In these days when we are always texting, emailing, etc, why not catch up with an old friend in person? Over a cup of coffee and a piece of cake naturally or go find a happy hour with a friend.

Meet a friend for a sinful afternoon tea experience.

Buy yourself some new lingerie. Undergarments you like just for you. Because it’s pretty and it makes you feel good.

Go watch a movie in the afternoon when the theatre isn’t crowded. Bonus points: watch something that you know that no one else wants to go see with you.

Buy yourself flowers just because. Pretty things always add joy to space.

On vacation, send the family off to do something and enjoy the hotel spa. Vacations can be exhausting – no joke!

Don’t have time for a full spa day? Human touch is one of the best ways to pamper yourself. Get a massage. Have someone ease your tired muscles.

Get a manicure and/or a pedicure. I don’t care how good you are at the at-home version, having a professional do it is a total self-pampering experience.

Get a blowout! Your hair will look amazing and your confidence immediately boosted.

Book a staycation at a nice hotel. Order room service. Bring a friend.

Find a gourmet chocolate shop and indulge in something small yet sinfully delicious.  Yes, it’s not just Paris that is always a good idea.

Don’t have time/money for a spa pampering voucher but still looking for pampering day ideas? How about a mini pampering session for a manicure and/or pedicure voucher instead? Especially in winter, having pretty tootsies is a luxury. Pretty pedicured toes are a hidden unexpected joy to see every time they are released from under thick socks and big boots. They are for YOU, a hidden little secret sort of like pretty lingerie you buy for yourself.

Another thing that is nice to buy as relaxing gifts for her? Expensive skin care products. They are considered a splurge if you are budget conscious. And, they are perfect for pampering yourself at home. I honestly don’t know if something like Chanel Le Lift will bring back the radiance of my teenage years but I’m willing to give it a go!

Something as simple as a nice box of chocolates, an indulgent candy bar, or a piece of cake are good ways to pamper yourself.

Some of the best pampering gifts are drink-related – a bottle of champagne, an expensive bottle of wine or simply a nice glass of wine in the bathtub? What could be more relaxing?

The Importance of Regular Self Pampering

Taking time out on a regular basis is the key to keeping your life balanced. Running off for a spa day or ‘me time’ when you are totally stressed out makes it much harder for you to indulge in self-care. The therapist will spend most of the time just getting you back to normal instead of elevating you from normal to bliss.

The key to self-care is small and regular amounts of pampering time that will keep you (and your body) running smooth.

Gretchen Rubin suggests you take a lesson from your non-human BFF and learn to go into low power mode. Just like a phone needs regularly scheduled power-ups, a bit of self-pampering on a regular basis means you don’t need a  major reboot instead of just some minor care (to continue with that phone analogy).
